How much does it cost and what does it take to obtain
citizenship of St Kitts and Nevis?

A licensed immigration agent has to be hired in order to obtain St Kitts and Nevis citizenship. Foreigners are not entitled to apply for citizenship directly to the country authorities: they must use an agent. Besides, a non-returnable donation to the Sustainable Growth Fund (SGF) needs to be made. Alternatively, a returnable investment into real property in St Kitts and Nevis can be made. Donation to the SGF

The donation amounts vary depending on whether a single person or a family are applying for St Kitts and Nevis citizenship:

  • A sole applicant is to make a donation of US$ 150,000.
  • If the person is applying with his or her spouse, an additional donation of US$ 25,000 is due.
  • If other dependents (regardless of their age) are included in the application, an additional donation of US$ 10,000 per each dependent is due.

Investment into real property in St Kitts and Nevis

There is a possibility to acquire citizenship of St Kitts and Nevis via investment in a Government-approved development project. Investments can be made into villas, condominiums, or hotel shares.

The minimum required investment amount is US$ 200,000 (the property can be resold after 7 years) or US$ 400,000 (the property can be resold after 5 years) per each main applicant.

The passport issued to persons above 16 years of age is valid for 10 years. The passport issued to persons below 16 years of age is valid for 5 years.

What documents are required to acquire St Kitts and Nevis citizenship for money?

The following documents have to be submitted:

  • A medical examination certificate with HIV test results (less than 3 months old).
  • A notarized and apostilled copy of the foreign passport and its notarized translation if necessary. (This requirement applies to all family members who hold foreign passports.)

(This requirement applies to all family members who are over 16 years of age.)
  • The original of the Letter of Recommendation from the bank (applies only to those acquiring citizenship via an investment).
  • The original of a professional recommendation from the applicant’s employer. If the applicant is self-employed, a letter of recommendation from a business partner, a lawyer, or an auditor (applies to investors only).
  • A utility bill indicating the name and the address of the investor to serve as proof of address (applies to investors only).
  • A notarized and apostilled copy of the marriage or divorce certificate with its notarized translation.
  • Notarized and apostilled copies of university diplomas (to be submitted by the investor and his/ her spouse).
  • A bank statement for the last 12 months stamped by the bank officer and accompanied with a notarized translation if necessary (applies to investors).
  • If the questionnaire shows that the applicant owns a business company and this company is the source of his/ her income, the company registration certificate and the extract from the Registry have to be supplied. Both documents have to be translated into English if necessary.
  • If the application for citizenship includes children between 18 and 30 years of age, a document confirming the studentship of the child is required. Besides, another document is required, namely, a confirmation from the main applicant signed in the presence of a public notary that the child is fully financially dependent on the applicant.
Do you have to live in St Kitts and Nevis in order the obtain citizenship of the country?

This is not necessary. The citizenship-by-investment program does not oblige the applicants to reside in St Kitts and Nevis to be considered citizens of the country. Neither do you have to visit the country while the application is processed nor when the process is completed. However, as a citizen if St Kitts and Nevis, you will have to right to live and work in the country as much as you wish. The passport and the naturalization certificate can be collected from the immigration agent that you will have hired.

What can be the reasons for the rejection of the application for St Kitts and Nevis citizenship by investment?

If the applicant has a criminal conviction or a spoiled reputation, his or her application can be rejected. If the applicant fails to pass the due diligence procedures, his or her application can also be rejected. Sometimes, the rejection is explained by national security concerns. At other times, it is explained by the discovery that the applicant has provided false information in the application documents.
